Ljubljana from the inside - at the crossroads of many cultures and roads

I invite you to know Ljubljana from the inside out! Feel the local flavor of Ljubljana. Admire the medieval city, the architectural style of Baroque and Art Nouveau, the work of the brilliant architect Jozé Plecnik, the Ljubljanica River, which is crossed by countless bridges, walk through the market and enter the cathedral with us!

In Ljubljana, the distant past meets the present. In Ljubljana found the oldest wheel in the world, which is 5300 years old. In the People’s Museum, we keep the world’s oldest bear bone squeaker, played by Neanderthals 60,000 years ago, in 2014 Ljubljana celebrated the 2,000th anniversary of the Roman city of Emona and received the prestigious title “European Green Capital 2016” – “European Green Capital 2016”, in 2015 the Slovenian capital received an award in the WTTC international competition in Madrid in the category “Best tourist destinations”.

I will introduce you to the history of amazing corners of this ancient city, the architecture and life of the Slovenian capital. You will walk along the banks of the Ljubljanica River, learn the legend of the founding of the city and see many attractions: the square of the poet Prešerna, the Cathedral of St. Nicholas, three bridges, dragons and a shoe bridge, the Crusader monastery, the building of the national university library, the Philharmonic Palace and many others.

With the tour we will finish at the funicular to the castle, which you can climb yourself or with a guide. At the castle, look at the castle chapel of St. George and go up to the observation tower, which will open you an amazing view of the surroundings.

After descending from the castle, I recommend trying one of the traditional dishes: mushroom soup in a bread bowl, goulash “bograc”, breaded frog legs, sweet cake from puff dough “Prekmursk Gibanica” or pumpkin ice cream in restaurants with typical Slovenian cuisine. Enjoying the taste of Slovenian national dishes, you can’t help but agree with the popular Slovenian proverb that the way to the heart is through the stomach!
