Discover the tradition of beekeeping in Slovenia
Description:
We present to your attention a novelty among the thematic excursions - author's excursion "Acquaintance with the tradition of beekeeping in Slovenia".
Important! Excursions are conducted by an experienced guide Anya Bezgovsek, one of two Russian-speaking guides with a license "bee guide" in Slovenia (license of the Association of Beekeepers of Slovenia No. 16/2016).
The tradition of modern beekeeping in Slovenia begins with the famous beekeeper Anton Janša, whom the Holy Roman Empress Maria Theresa herself invited to Vienna to become a teacher in the newly created School of Beekeeping. The tour will begin with a visit to the Museum of Beekeeping in Radovlica, where we will first get acquainted with the history of beekeeping, with the life and activities of the truly Slovenian bee of the Kranjska Sivka breed (Latin Apis mellifera carnica), as well as get acquainted with the folk culture of life - panske endice (painted frontal shields of hives). After that, we will relax a little with a visit to the Museum and the gingerbread workshop and take a short break for coffee. The tour will continue with a visit to the estate of a famous beekeeping family near the alpine lake Bled.
The owner-beekeeper on site will present us the life of bees, the work of the beekeeper throughout the year, and will also conduct a tasting of bee products. In the afternoon, before returning, at the request of guests there will be an opportunity to have a snack in the local restaurant and walk along the shore of the fabulous Lake Bled.
