Metelkov Museum of Contemporary Art
Tomsiceva 14, Ljubljana, Slovenia
About the company:
Metelkov Museum of Contemporary Art is a museum in which samples of modern and avant-garde art are presented as exhibits.
The museum is housed in a former barracks formerly owned by the People's Yugoslav Army, and houses archives, restoration studios and a library.
In honor of the opening, two exhibitions were held at once: The Museum of Affects and The Present and Presence, some of the works for which were selected from the Moderna galerija collection, under the patronage of which the new museum opened. Here are the works of Slovenian authors from the period of Slovenia’s independence, that is, from 1960 to 1991. Along with Kazimir Malevich, Marina Abramovich, Ed Rushi, John Baldessari, Andy Warhol, Russian names are also heard here: Vladimir Kupriyanov and Andrei Monastyrsky, Vitaly Komar and Konstantin Stargazers, and many others.
In addition to familiarization with samples of outstanding contemporary art, the Metelkov Museum provides an opportunity to purchase postcards and posters depicting works, as well as monographs, catalogs of past, current and upcoming exhibitions.
