Description:
The city of Postojna is known for its karst cave "Postojnskaya Yama". The cave was created by nature itself. The river Beer washed the rock, forming a depression. Its bed still flows at the bottom of the cave. The tunnels of the cave are well studied. The first moves were discovered in 1818. About 5 kilometers are open to visit. It is worth doing this by taking a special excursion, including a train trip and a walking route with a total of up to an hour and a half. The tour starts from the railway station. The first point is the Old Cave, which houses the Conference Hall. It's got great acoustics. And on the eve of the New Year holidays, performances with plots from the Bible are held. The amazing beauty of stalactites will not leave anyone indifferent. The most beautiful is the Diamond made of white limestone of five subways. There is a vivarium in which you can see a unique animal Proteus, resembling a lizard. Its length is 30 centimeters. It lives only in the dark and is called the Nohuman Fish. The souvenir store will present a large selection of jewelry from gems and semi-precious stones. You can get there by bus from the center of Postojna or walk. From Ljubljana – by bus or car.
