Cromberk Castle

Grajska cesta 1, Nova Gorica, Slovenia

Description:

Cromberk Castle dates from the early 17th century. Baroque elements are evident in its architecture. It was built by Count Dornberski and sold to the Coronini family.

Unfortunately, part of the castle was destroyed during the wars, and it was not possible to restore them. The art gallery, located on the ground floor, offers interesting works by Baroque masters of the Middle Ages.

. There is also a department, which contains furniture, clothes, utensils and photographs of the 19th century, telling about the history of the castle itself. The departments of archaeology and ethnology are located on the second floor and always attract a large number of tourists. In the courtyard of the castle there is a round fountain, which was built in 1774. The park has an amphitheatre and a lapidarium. The castle is located five kilometers from Novo-Gorica, which can be reached by car, moving in an easterly direction.
