Olimiya Monastery

The history of Olimiya Monastery is very interesting. At first, a castle was built in the 11th century, which was the personal possession of the Counts of Pilstein. It was only in 1663 that a monastery was formed here. Its architecture impresses with its beauty and originality. Also on its territory there is a home pharmacy, which began to work in 1765. It presents medicinal infusions of herbs, healing ointments, teas with medicinal properties. For the preparation of medicines, the monks used the water of the Sotla River. Its properties as life-giving were known to the ancient Celts. With its help, skin diseases, injuries to the muscles and bones, circulatory problems were treated. The pharmacy works in our time.
