Cinco de Mayo (Cinco de Mayo)

Description:

On this day, special attention is paid to Mexican-Americans, Mexican cuisine.
May 5 Americans of Mexican descent celebrate the day of the victory of the Mexicans over the French at the Battle of Puebla in 1862.

It is quite a popular holiday in Mexico, but it is most widely celebrated in America, and it is sometimes called Mexican St. Patrick’s Day (not a bad analogy, given that St. Patrick’s Day is also more celebrated in America than in Ireland).

On this day, special attention is paid to Mexican-Americans, Mexican cuisine, national music and folklore dances. In some areas, major festivals and celebrations, carnivals, which stretch throughout the week are organized.

Red, white and green - the colors of the Mexican flag - are the most popular colors of the first week of May.

On this day, people flaunt in sombrero and chew exclusively Mexican food. The most courageous take part in a competition for eating pepper, which is called here chalupinya.

Participants of the holiday break suspended on a tree dolls stuffed with candy. These dolls are called Pinatas.

Today, Cinco de Mayo has become an international holiday. And if you ask what it is now, the answer is one – it is a celebration of Mexican culture.
