Elvis Presley.August 16 in the city of Memphis USA is the traditional Day of Remembrance of Elvis Presley, singer and karate player. Every year on August 10, thousands of people flock to Memphis, Tennessee for Elvis Presley Memorial Week.

The program includes many different events, but the main thing is that since 1983 it has included a three-day karate tournament, which comes - as instructors, guests of honor, judges - great champions who knew it well. And on August 16, the day Elvis died, they give the winners commemorative prizes with his initials.

Before Elvis’ death on August 16, 1977, he sold 500 million records, and seven years later that figure doubled – something no one has ever done before.

He starred in 33 films, earning at least a million dollars each. In 1973, a television program with his participation gathered a billion people at the screens - such a number of viewers could not collect even a report on the landing of the first man on the moon.
