The Forest Service, the largest campaign in American history, was created in 1944. A living personification, a symbol of the organization was the history of 1950.
So one beautiful spring day in the mountains of New Mexico from the fire tower was seen smoke rising clubs out of the forest. A strong wind developed the fire rapidly. Everyone who could was involved in extinguishing the fire, from security to locals.

A few hours later, the fire was extinguished. Locals and firefighters found the bear alone again. He hid in a wide hollow of wood. His legs were bleeding from burns.
This story soon became the press. People wrote letters to the Department to see how the bear felt. He was transferred to the National Zoo in Washington. So it became a living symbol of the National Society for the Protection of Nature from Fire.
