National Hunting and Fisheries Day of the United States

Description:

Fishing with pleasure!
While International Fisheries Day in countries such as Russia and Ukraine is celebrated on June 27, in the United States National Hunting & Fishing Day in 2007 falls on September 22.

The first attempts to organize the Day of Fishing and Hunting belong to the athlete Ira Joffe (Ira Joffe), owner of his own store of weapons for hunters.

Subsequently, at the insistence of the National Shooting Sports Society, the concept of this holiday was considered by the US Senate.

In June 1971, Senator Thomas McIntyre, in Joint Resolution 117, authorized National Hunting and Fisheries Day to be held annually on the fourth Saturday of September.

On May 2, 1972, President Nixon wrote in a proclamation: "I urge all citizens to join the athletes of the outdoor games in the rational use of natural resources and in ensuring their proper management for the benefit of future generations."
