Atlanta

Centennial Olympic Park

Description:

Atlanta's Central Olympic Park was built to celebrate the 1996 Georgia Olympics. To impress the Olympic Commission and visitors to the city, the abandoned area of the city, which housed several stopped factories, was converted into a picturesque park.

Initially, $28 million was invested in the construction of the park. Of course, after the Olympic Games in Atlanta, no one closed the new park. Moreover, an additional $15 million was allocated to improve infrastructure. The second stage of construction was completed in 1998, after which the park continued to work to the delight of local residents, who to this day come here to relax, breathe fresh air and admire the large fountain of zigzag shape, which is especially beautiful in the evening, in the light of colorful lights, when the water jets, rising to a height of 4 to 10 meters, form bizarre figures to the sounds of music, coming from speakers located here nearby. The fountain is surrounded by flags of the countries participating in the 1996 Summer Olympics. The park is decorated with various sculptures, among which stands out the statue of Pierre de Coubertin - the father of the modern Olympic movement.
