Cyclorama and Civil War Museum in Atlanta

About the company:

The Civil War Museum is located in Grant Park, adjacent to the Atlanta Zoo. It is famous for its cyclorama, a panoramic depiction of the battles of the Civil War of 1864.

Visitors view a panoramic image from the inside of a large cylinder, entering it through the floor entrance. Once visitors are seated in their seats, the cylinder begins to rotate slowly, gradually opening a panoramic picture. Its dimensions are impressive - 14 meters in height and 120 in length. The idea of creating such a panorama belongs to one of the former participants of the Civil War, John Logan, and it was implemented in 1885.

The museum features paintings, photographs, as well as sculptures and artifacts dedicated to the Civil War, including the Texas steam locomotive, which played a key role in the liberation of another captured locomotive called the General. There is also a cinema where you can watch themed short films.

The museum is open from Tuesday to Saturday, from 9 to 16-30. Parking for visitors is free.
