Hells Gate State Park

5100 Hells Gate Road, Lewiston, ID 83501, United States

Description:

Hells Gate State Park, founded in 1973, is located at the entrance to Hells Canyon, the deepest gorge in North America. It is located on the picturesque banks of the Snake River, at an altitude of 225 meters above sea level. The total area of the park is about 400 hectares.

Hells Gate is a green paradise with a lot of quiet campsites that attract visitors. The park has comfortable conditions for active recreation. Here you can organize a picnic, do hiking and water sports. Due to the lack of roads near the canyon, you can get here only by river: by water skiing or during a boat tour.

The park has a large open-air stage for cultural and entertainment events. In September, the hunting and fishing season opens here. A few minutes walk from the park there is a large selection of restaurants and shops. Hells Gate is an inexhaustible treasure trove of wildlife, close to many attractions and modern infrastructure.
