Idaho Potato Museum in Blackfoot
130 NW Main St, Blackfoot, ID 83221, United States
About the company:
The Idaho Potato Museum offers dozens of fun and informative exhibitions that focus on a variety of aspects of potato life. The origin and properties of this plant, recipes and potato souvenirs are waiting for guests in this unusual museum.
Idaho has long proclaimed itself the potato capital of the world. But if not the world, then the United States – for sure, because in its territory 30% of all American potatoes are grown. The opening of the museum in 1989 was welcomed by Blackfoot. Already in the first year of work, the unusual museum was visited by more than five thousand people.
The museum is located in the building of the former railway depot built in 1912. The colorful exhibition will take you through the history of potato farming in the United States - from the first bush planted in Idaho to the world's largest crispy potato chip, produced by the Pringle company. Antique agricultural equipment, Peruvian ancient vessels for storing potatoes aged 1600 years, devices for drying and freezing, photos of potato record holders, a story about breeding - this is an incomplete list of museum exhibits. Video presentations, models, moving models make visiting the museum really interesting. And to remember the visit here, buy a souvenir card with the image of Marilyn Monroe in a potato field or an amazing potato lotion for the face. You will not be offered anything like this anywhere else.
