Trinity Church in Boston
206 Clarendon St, Boston, MA 02116, USA
Description:
The Trinity Church in Boston, which was built in 1872-1877, is a masterpiece of American architecture. In 1970, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places.
The church building is located on Copley Square in the Back Bay area of Boston. At the beginning of the XIX century, this area was a marshy area in which the construction of buildings was impossible. Due to the rapid growth of the population of Boston, these swamps were covered with gravel. As a result, by the early 70s of the XIX century, the construction of large residential buildings and temples began in this area.
The Trinity Church was built in the neo-Romanesque style by the famous American architect Henry Richardson. He made perfect use of local stone: granite and sandstone mined in Massachusetts. Heavy stone arches, massive towers are the hallmarks of this style.
In the temple is the parish of the episcopal diocese of Massachusetts. There are daily services, special programs for children and adolescents, and Christian education for all ages. Festive services in the church are accompanied by choral singing and organ music. The church choir often performs on tour in other countries.
