All Saints Church

209 Ashmont St, Ctr Dorchester, MA 02124, USA

Description:

The building of the Church of All Saints was built in 1892 with the donations of Colonel Oliver Peabody, and is a masterpiece of architecture of the American parish church of the early twentieth century. The temple is located in the Dorchester neighborhood of southern Boston, near the Ashmont Metro Station on the Red Line.

The design of the church building was designed by the young architect Ralph Adams Cram, and is an important milestone in the history of American architecture. The building is built from limestone mined in the quarries of Nova Scotia in Canada, and is lined with granite mined in Quincy, Massachusetts. The church was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.

The interior of the church is decorated with oak panels and stained glass windows made by famous artists. In 1995, an organ of C.B. Fisk, Inc. was installed in the church. Accompanied by this organ, a choir of boys sings in the temple on Sundays.
