Harvard Stadium
65 N Harvard St, Allston, MA 02134, USA
Description:
Harvard Stadium ranks among the nation's top facilities for American football. The horseshoe-shaped outdoor stadium was built in 1903 and is designed for 30,323 seats. It is one of the oldest stadiums in the United States. Over the years, the stadium has hosted 660 Harvard football competitions, as well as hundreds of other sports and non-sports events, including Olympic and professional football, athletics competitions, rock concerts, festivals and political rallies.
When designing the stadium, architectural elements of the Greek and Roman circus stadiums were used, which allowed to achieve an excellent view of the entire field. The construction is considered a marvel of engineering, since vertical reinforced concrete structures were used here for the first time.
Harvard Stadium is listed on the National Register of Historic Monuments.
