Chicago Midway International Airport

Description:

Midway International Airport is the second largest airport in Chicago, after O'Hare Airport. At the moment, it is one of the most dynamically developing air ports in North America.

The first aircraft landed on this airfield in 1927. It was a postal service transport coming from Omaha. The airport had the status of a municipal airport, and the city did a lot for its development. Already in 1928, 100 aircraft were based here, 12 hangars were built, runways were laid and even signal lighting was installed for night flights. Before World War II, four out of every ten American planes took off and landed at the airport. In 1949, its name was changed. It was named after Midway Atoll in the Pacific Ocean, near which in 1942 there was a battle between the US Navy and the combined fleet of Japan.

Midway Airport has a convenient location - only 10 kilometers separate it from the business part of Chicago. It is easily accessible by any mode of transport. Three terminals are used to service passengers, access to the aircraft is carried out through 43 landing corridors. The main number of flights is carried out by budget and local airlines. In the premises of the airport there are several restaurants and cafes, souvenir shops where you can buy a gift at the last minute. There are also ATMs and currency exchange offices. A car rental office is open.
