Abandoned amusement park

3007 Formosa Gardens Blvd, Kissimmee, FL 34747

Description:

Magnificent China is a theme park in Citrus Ridge, Florida, not far from the city of Orlando. The park was opened in 1993, but on December 31, 2003 it ceased to exist and was abandoned. The site is an exact replica of the famous Greater China Park, located in the city of Shenzhen, which still operates and receives millions of visitors annually.

$100 million was spent to build Great China. At the peak of its popularity, the park covered an area of 30 hectares, and it housed more than 60 miniature copies of the great Chinese attractions, including the Great Wall of China, the Buddha statue, many pagodas and temples.

During the opening of the park, a grandiose show was arranged with the participation of famous actors, dancers and acrobats from China.

After some time, the park was criticized because it belonged to the People’s Republic of China, and, as is known, the communist regime is negatively perceived by the US government. More and more mini-attractions were closed and subsequently vandalized and stolen. Several times the park tried to resell, but soon, it was decided to close it completely and demolish.
