Punaluu Black Beach

Punalu'u Beach, HI, United States

Description:

Punaluu Black Beach is located on the Hawaiian Big Island and is known primarily for its amazing black sand. This sand is polished by the waters of the ocean volcanic lava, safe and pleasant to the touch.

The beach of Punaluu is famous for the fact that sea turtles love to bask on it. They crawl to the shore and walk among tourists, giving this place an outlandish look. There are endangered species among turtles, so locals watch the turtles and try not to let them close to people.

Swim here you are unlikely to succeed - scattered on the shore sharp stones and rocks in the water are very dangerous, besides in the water there are many freshwater cold springs. But you can sunbathe in this amazing place a lot. However, keep in mind that black sand heats up much faster and stronger than the usual white, so contact with the skin may not be very pleasant.

The black sand of Punaluu beach shines beautifully in the sun, creating a unique romantic setting. But you will not be able to take a handful of this amazing creation of nature - it is strictly forbidden.
