White Sands Beach

77-6452 Alii Drive, Kailua-Kona, HI 96740

Description:

The beach is also sometimes referred to as the "Disappearing Sands" due to the fact that several times a year all the sand seems to disappear from the beach during a storm. A strong surf breaks into the shore, which can be quite dangerous.

This is one of the favorite places for people involved in bodyboarding - a kind of surfing, riding the waves. Bodyboard - a small rectangular piece of foam hydrodynamic shape. The shape of the board depends on the style of skiing. They ride on a bodyboard lying, half standing and even standing. In Hawaiian, Laое aloa means “holy, sacred.” There are several archaeological sites in the bay.

The ruins of an ancient Hawaiian temple are located south of the beach, in a parking lot that was added in 2000. There is also a small rocky cove, which is a famous place for diving in calm weather.
