Papacolea Green Beach
Papakolea Green Sand Beach HI 96772, United States
Description:
The green beach of Papakolea is the pearl of the Hawaiian Islands. The sand of the beach has a pleasant olive color due to the content of crystals of semiprecious stone chrysolite, it consists of magnesium silicate and iron. The locals called this amazing corner “Hawaiian diamond”.
If you look at the beach from afar, it appears green, but if you come closer, you will notice that it turns olive-gold. These greenish stones are born from the lava of local volcanoes, interspersed with chrysolite are found in the rocks surrounding this strange beach.
Precious sand from the beach is strictly forbidden to take - this is warned by signs at the entrance. The fact is that, according to scientists, in a hundred years the ocean can wash away this unique miracle of nature due to strong surfs. Therefore, tourists rarely visit the green beach, but if you choose a period of calm, you can spend a few truly fabulous moments.
