Death Valley
Death Valley, 92328, United States
Description:
Death Valley is an intermountain depression in the western United States in the state of California. Here is the lowest point in North America - 86 meters below sea level. On July 10, 1913, the highest temperature on Earth was recorded here - +56.7 degrees Celsius.
Death Valley covers 3.3 million acres and is the largest park in the United States and neighboring countries. On the west side, the valley is bordered by Telescope Peak and on the east by Dante's View.
Among the bare space of the valley are scattered boulders of different sizes - from several kilograms to half a ton weight. At the same time, the stones tend to change their location, leaving noticeable traces of their movement.
The valley got its grim name from immigrants who crossed it in 1849, trying to get to the gold mines of California. The guide briefly reported that “some of them stayed there forever.”
