Mount Moran

Tari National Reserve, Alta, WY 83414

Description:

Mount Moran is not high, but an insidious peak, famous for its unpredictable weather. The first ascent was in 1922. And although there are no high-altitude and technically difficult routes, special training will be required for the ascent. For the passage of ice and rocky areas will require winter climbing equipment. Depending on the season, some routes may be closed due to the risk of an avalanche.

The summit is named after the artist Moran, who took part in the geological expedition of 1871. While exploring Yellowstone National Park, he made many sketches and paintings, which, together with a small number of photographs, served as the main documentary evidence for the discovery of the reserve in these places.
