Grapevine Canyon

Lake Mead National Recreation Area, Searchlight, NV 89046

Description:

Most of the Mojave desert is lifeless sands and cliffs, which are not very popular among tourists. But there is one interesting place in it - Grapevine Canyon. At its bottom there is a tourist route to the source of fresh spring water, next to which there was once a parking lot of the first indigenous Indians.

Traveling through the canyon takes about a day of leisurely walk. The main difficulty is represented by boulders of different sizes, between which you can sometimes pass, and sometimes you have to climb. At the entrance to the canyon, two such huge stones are painted with cave paintings that are several hundred years old. Further along the entire length of the canyon you can see other patterns. The caretakers of the couple are urged to treat them carefully, because this is the only archaeological memorial of the first people in Death Valley.
