Chinese Cultural Garden

368 Educational Park Dr, San Jose, CA 95133, United States

Description:

The oldest Chinese garden in California was created on the initiative of a couple Frank and Pauline Lowe. In the sixties, they were forced to leave China, but the longing for their homeland became unbearable over the years. With the permission of the local administration in the wasteland in Overfelt Gardens Park, they set up their small garden. The idea was supported by a garden master from Taiwan, Dr. Chen Li-Fu, and in 1971 the garden in San Jose was inaugurated.

On more than two hectares of land, not only the traditional landscape was recreated, but also several cultural buildings were erected. The park houses the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall and Chiang Kai-shek Pavilion. The Chinese Garden has become a permanent venue for the Lunar Festival, held every third Sunday in September. Walking through the park is accompanied by a time travel. Here you can get acquainted with the history of China, its traditions and legends.
