Lake Reistrek Playa
death Valley Park, California, USA
Description:
The lake stretches into the gorge of the Cottonwood Mountains. During the rains, the dried reservoir is filled with water that flows from the rocks. This happens about twice a year. But water is collected a little and moisture lasts a few days. Basically, the lake is a small crater with cracked clay, forming polygonal figures. Nothing grows near the lake due to lack of water.
But the most remarkable thing is that the stones scattered throughout the dried-up body of water move. Scientists have noticed this geological phenomenon for a long time. There's even video footage of them moving around on their own without anyone's help. Another evidence of this is the traces on the clay from the slide of stones. A similar phenomenon occurs in other countries, but on Raistrek Playa the length of the past route at the stones is much longer than anywhere else.
