Glass beach

Fort Bragg, California 95437, United States of America

Description:

The glass beach is located in McCurricher Park, near the town of Fort Bragg, California. It got its name because the entire territory of the beach is strewn with colorful stones. These are the remains of a large landfill, closed in the 60s. Small glass was never removed, but gradually the waves of the ocean sharpened them, turning the shore into multicolored glass pebbles.

In the 1980s, when it was discovered that the former landfill had turned into a coastline with surprisingly beautiful multicolored and transparent pebbles, a beach was opened on the site. Tourists from all over the world come to see this unusual sight. Local craftsmen earn by making interesting souvenirs and jewelry from these stones for sale to tourists.
