Fashion Island Shopping Centre

Fashion Island is a high-end shopping center selling fashionable goods.

Opened in 1967 as part of the larger Newport Center department store, Fashion Island included four shopping arcades framed by several small shops. In the early 80s, two more department stores and several small cafes and diners were added, which were located on the ground floors. As the popularity of Fashion Island grew, the ambitions of its founders grew, so in 1988 the center underwent serious expansion and reconstruction: a new restaurant was opened Island Terrace Food Court, a large cinema, several new shopping arcades and a very spectacular fountain "Iris", pushing water flows to a height of nine meters.

In the early 2000s, Fashion Island was again modernized: many elements of the landscape and facades of buildings, as well as furniture and flooring materials, changed, as a result of which the influence of the Spanish style became clearly visible. As part of the expansion and modernization of the retail space, a new wing was opened with several restaurants and shops. Every year, about a week before Christmas, a large Christmas tree is installed here, near which festive performances are held.
