California African American Museum
CA 90037, Los Angeles, 600 State Drive.
About the company:
In 1981, the California African American Museum opened in Los Angeles. He settled in the premises of the California Science Center. The architects of the building were black Jack and Haywood.
In July 1984, the museum moved to the Olympic Games. In 2001-2003 reconstruction was carried out. Now the building occupies 4,100 square meters of area. This includes three exhibition galleries, a gallery theater, a conference center, administration offices, a design exhibition, an artifact storage area, a scientific library and an archive.
It's not a very big brown building with a colonnade. It has a stepped roof, and at the top of the entrance visitors are met by a bright colored dolphin. Near the building there is a large number of green spaces.
The museum is open to research, collection, storage, interpretation of the culture and art of African Americans and public enrichment in the field. The building houses more than 3,500 historical artifacts, art and memorabilia. The research library has more than 20,000 books and other reference materials, access to which is limited.
Here you can see paintings, multimedia works and sculpture of African Americans. Some works belong to modern authors, some masters of the past.
