International Banana Museum
About the company:
To meet a museum dedicated to a tropical fruit in California is not that strange, rather unexpected. The California Museum is the largest banana museum in the world. The original banana museum was founded by Ken Bannister.
In 1972, he organized the International Banana Club, which collected any interesting and unusual information related to bananas. The large collection of original exhibits formed the basis for the opening of the Banana Museum in 1975. Today in the collection of 17,000 copies: bananas inflatable, ceramic, plastic, on advertising posters and postcards, old photos from banana plantations in Jamaica and Costa Rica, there are even retro plates with songs about bananas and a completely unappetizing blackened “cremated” fruit.
The museum is in the Guinness Book of Records as the world record holder in the category "the largest collection in the world dedicated to one fruit". At the entrance, they treat bananas with real bananas and tell about the first time Americans saw the yellow fruit at the same time as Alexander Bell’s telephone device at the Philadelphia World’s Fair in 1876.
