Museum of Computer History

1401 N Shoreline Blvd, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA

About the company:

The Museum of Computer History in Mountain View was established in 1996.

Its collection includes more than 100,000 objects, including photographs and films, as well as a large number of documents and software. Here you can see several generations of Cray supercomputers, the first personal computer Apple-1 and one of the earliest versions of the server company Google. An interesting exhibit is a working mechanical machine by Charles Babbage, built according to his drawings more than 150 years ago.

There is a special program to restore old computers. Museum employees and volunteers restored in working condition IBM 1620 1960 release, PDP-1 1959 release and others. A large section is devoted to the history of computer chess from 1945 to 1997. A separate exposition of the museum tells about inventions made in Silicon Valley, located nearby.

Most of the museum’s collections are available online.
