U.S. Air Force Academy Cadets Chapel
2306 Sijan Drive, Air Force Academy, CO
Description:
The Cadets Chapel of the U.S. Air Force Academy is located in Colorado, on the territory of the military camp and training base of the branch of the Academy of Air Force Pilots. The chapel was built in 1962 in the style of modernism, designed by architect Walter Netch.
The majestic appearance of the chapel is given by seventeen rows of steel frames, ending in peaks at a height of 50 meters. The building consists of three levels, in which services are held for representatives of the Catholic, Protestant and Jewish denominations.
The chapel is a popular tourist attraction, about 500,000 people come to see it every year. In 1996, the chapel was awarded the American Institute of Architecture Award, and in 2004, as part of the Cadet Corps, it was recognized as a National Historic Monument.
