Rocky Mountains

Rocky Mountains, Boulder, Colorado, USA.

Description:

There is hardly a place in the United States more suitable for mountaineering and climbing than the Rocky Mountains National Park. It is located on both sides of the Dividing Ridge and includes almost a third of the entire state. A distinctive feature of these rocks is the unusual slope of the surface and a variety of cracks and ledges that allow you to easily overcome long distances. The only difficulty is choosing a comfortable season for climbing.

The best months are July, August and September, although in the middle of summer it is quite hot and you need to pre-stock up on water. Local springs are unsuitable for drinking due to the parasite Giardia, so you have to carefully filter it or even use imported. You can buy everything you need, including some equipment, in the shops of Estes Park. They constantly work firm Colorado Mountain School, engaged in training climbing, organization of ascents and expeditions in the park.

In early summer, the cliffs are covered with snow and ice, which makes the usual routes take an absolutely unthinkable climbing trajectory, which attracts a special category of climbers.
