Mike O'Callaghan Memorial Bridge - Pat Tillman
Description:
The state borders of Arizona and Nevada are connected by the Mike O’Callaghan–Pat Tilman Memorial Bridge. It is named after two people who lived in neighboring states – Nevada Governor Mike O’Callaghan and popular Arizona football player Pat Tilman.
It is the first reinforced concrete arch bridge in the United States, and its reinforced concrete arch is one of the longest in the country. The bridge is located down the Colorado River, 30 km from Las Vegas. It stands in second place in height, after the bridge called the Royal Gorge Bridge.
In 2010, highway 93 opened in Idaho, Arizona, Nevada and Montana. Due to the fact that the bridge is almost the highest in the United States, cars can easily cross the Colorado River, moving along a more or less straight, without large slopes, path in 4 lanes.
