Hotel and Casino El Cortez

600 Fremont St, Las Vegas 89101

About the company:

El Cortez Hotel and Casino is located in Las Vegas, Nevada. The hotel was opened in 1941. El Cortez has undergone several renovations, the last of which was completed in 2006. As a result, the number of rooms in the hotel increased from 59 to 364, marble floors were added, slot machines were added and the restaurant kitchen was modernized.

In 1937, well-known gangster Benjamin Bugsy Siegel was forced to leave New York for California to promote mafia affairs on the West Coast. He decided to settle in the south of Nevada, in the small town of Las Vegas, where he bought the hotel and casino "El Cortez", located in the city center. Siegel put the case on a broad footing, and already 6 months after buying the casino, he managed to fully return the investment.

The casino’s official marketing move is “The place where locals come to play.” Since the locals are tired of the large flow of tourists, they are attracted by the calm atmosphere prevailing here. Slot machines and table games occupy one whole main building, built in the Spanish colonial style.
