Crossroads of the World Shopping Center
6671 Sunset Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA 90028, USA
Description:
In 1936, the Crossroads of the World was opened in Los Angeles, a shopping mall located on Sunset Boulevard. It became a landmark of the city and was included in the Register of Historic Places.
The architect was Robert V. Derrah. Crossroads of the World resembles a large ocean liner. Trading takes place right under the open sky. In addition to shopping, there are places for entertainment. At the very edge of the “liner” there is a tower with an American flag and a rotating globe at the very top.
Many films have been shot at the site, including Los Angeles Secrets, television shows and McDonald’s commercials. There are also offices of producers, music publishers, screenwriters, costume artists, publicists and record companies.
