3811 W Valhalla Dr, Burbank, CA 91505, USA
Description:
The gate of the memorial "Folded Wings of Aviation" is a majestic structure resembling a triumphal arch, which is located in the city of Los Angeles. It reaches 25 m in height and is a memorial burial place for 13 aviation pioneers.
The temple-cemetery was built in 1924, and was called the palace of the Norwegian god Odin. It was the entrance to Memorial Park. Its architect was Kenneth John Macdonald, and the stone work was done by the Italian sculptor Georgy Federico.
This place holds the cremated remains of many famous people who have made a huge contribution to aviation. Here is buried the first pilot who flew across the Atlantic Ocean – Amelia Earhart. Her monument now rests in the temple.
The architecture of the portal cannot but impress. The top of the temple is decorated with a large dome with motley multi-colored tiles and elegant female silhouettes, whose hands are stretched to the sky. In front of the temple stands a snow-white plane - another attraction of this famous place.
