Chinese American Museum

425 North Los Angeles Street, Los Angeles, CA 90012

About the company:

The Chinese American Museum is the first museum in California dedicated to the culture and history of Chinese people living in America. It has been open since 2003 and is a historical monument.

The museum is located in the Chinatown of Los Angeles, in the Garnier Building. The construction covers 7,200 square meters and is funded from many sources, including the Chinese Historical Society of Southern California. The building itself looks quite ordinary, it consists of two floors and is made entirely of brown brick.

In 2012, it hosted a permanent exhibition titled Origins: The Birth and Blossoming of the Chinese American Community in Los Angeles. The museum presents many works by Chinese cultural figures. In addition to painting, the building features a documentary film that chronicles the history of Chinese films over 90 years.
