Centinela Adobe Museum

7634 Midfield Ave, Los Angeles, CA, USA

About the company:

In 1834, in the city of Los Angeles, the residence of the Historical Society appeared in the Sentinel Valley. It was named Centinela Adobe or La Casa de la Sentinela. The building is one of the 43 best preserved historic buildings in Los Angeles and is listed on the Register of Historic Places.

Centinela Adobe is now a museum of the history of the valley. The building was built on the site of the former Rancho de la Sentinel. In the days when Daniel Freeman lived on the ranch, more than 10,000 trees were planted here, livestock and a variety of vegetables and fruits were raised.

Sentinel's house isn't very big. This is a long, low structure, treated with plaster. It has a porch of flexible tiles. Inside are antique luxury furniture and artifacts from the late 1800s. The house surrounds the park.

One side of the valley shows a modern metropolis, and the other - the oldest building of this area, reminiscent of the XIX century. On Sundays, various events are held in the building, entrance to them is free.

Centinela Adobe also has a research and development center that has been open since 1980. Exhibits at this center include the Freeman Library, a safe, furniture, photographs, and articles about the history of the Centinella Valley.
