Glacier National Park
Description:
In the northern part of the Rocky Mountains on the border with Canada is Glacier National Park. It covers approximately 4,000 square kilometers of mountain ranges and thirty glaciers that are several thousand years old. There are several large lakes and green flowering meadows. Scientists have noticed a rather rapid melting of the glacier and a gradually changing landscape of the national park, which may disappear in the coming decade.
Glacier National Park is recognized by the Indians as a sacred land. It is sometimes called Little Switzerland or the American Alps. The main tourist route on a two-tier bus is called the Road to the Sun and 80 km stretches from the lower part of the park to the Continental Pass, gradually rising to a height of 2000 meters. On the way you will meet waterfalls, clean lakes reminiscent of Scandinavian fjords and evergreen impassable forests.
The most popular Many Glacier hotel is located in the middle of the alpine landscape on the shores of Swiftkarrent Lake. From its windows you can see peacefully grazing deer or sheep. Another popular hotel complex is called Lake McDonald Lodge and is located on the shore of Lake McDonald.
