New York City

Chelsea – a walk through galleries and other interesting places

Description:

Chelsea is a thriving New York City neighborhood full of historic landmarks, top-notch restaurants, masterpieces of modern architecture and world-class cultural institutions, but its main value (at least in my eyes) is dozens if not hundreds of art galleries that exhibit (and, unlike museums, sell) works by both our contemporaries and artists of previous generations. Much of the work dates back to the second half of the twentieth century and the early twenty-first, but that doesn’t mean you can’t find classics of modernism or even old masters at Chelsea.

A leisurely walk through the galleries is one of the favorite activities of both wealthy New Yorkers looking for a new decoration for the living room or country house, as well as artists, students and art lovers. Tourists do not often wander into galleries, where it is difficult to understand without a guide and without fluency in the language - I will be happy to keep you company, share thoughts and news. Most galleries allow amateur photography.

Entrance to the galleries is free. Tourists are provided with individual radio systems with headphones.
