New York City

"Melting pot" - ethnic enclaves of New York

Description:

New York has more Italians than Rome, more Irish than Dublin, and more Jews than Tel Aviv. Today, this cliché is no longer true. But ethnic enclaves remain and life in them is very different from ordinary American cities. Little Italy (so “small” that it remained in the area of 4 blocks, and even then, only restaurants for tourists, the Italians themselves left for Brooklyn and Staten Island) Chinese city, Jewish Borough Park and “Russian” Brighton. Of the 350 million living in the United States, almost 60 million are of German ancestry, only 20 million are English and Irish, and 15 million are Italian. And New York is a city in which the white population is a minority (60% of the colored population) and in 50% of families, the houses speak non-English.
