Ghost roams New York City - the ghost of Andy Warhol

Description:

A ghost wanders around New York City - the ghost of Andy Warhol.

One of the most recognizable artists of the second half of the XX century Andy Warhol was born on the outskirts of Pittsburgh, but his whole life is connected with the “capital of the world”. After moving to New York at the age of 21, Warhol quickly established himself as an original illustrator, working for prominent magazines and collaborating with advertising agencies. Starting in 1952, Warhol began to exhibit in galleries - first in group exhibitions, later - solo.

The attractions associated with Andy Warhol are many; some of them are in sight, many are not so easy to find, some, alas, destroyed or radically rebuilt.

Of the four (some count five), only two of the artist’s Factory survive, but the spirit of Andy Warhol hovers over the city that became his home, and which he sang in the films Empire, Chelsea Girls and dozens of others.

To mark the artist's ninetieth birthday, the Whitney Museum is preparing an extensive retrospective - the first since 1989. The exhibition, which may well be the artistic event of the decade, opens on November 12, 2018 and runs until March 31, 2019.
