New York City

Staten Island, a forgotten district of New York

Description:

Staten Island is a full-fledged part of New York City, one of the five boroughs (districts) of the city. Due to the remoteness (it is possible to get to Staten Island by four bridges and by a regularly cruising ferry) and the relatively sparse population of the island (it is home to less than half a million people), Staten Island undeservedly enjoys the reputation of a sleeping area, deprived of any attractions. Meanwhile, the island has a dozen notable museums, a zoo, several historic churches and cemeteries, many picturesque parks and excellent beaches. Staten Island has produced countless series and films, including Law & Order, Sex and the City, Girls and classics The Godfather, Goodfellas, Scent of a Woman, Analyze This, A Beautiful Mind, Donnie Brasco, Easy Money, School of Rock, War of the Worlds (2005), and many others. Celebrities such as Cornelius Vanderbilt, Christina Aguilera, Paul Newman, Steven Seagal, Martin Sheen and others were born or lived on the island.

A tireless four- to six-hour tour will introduce you to the historical sights of Richmond (as the district was once called), its diverse architecture, picturesque views, colorful inhabitants and excellent cuisine: most of the inhabitants of the island are immigrants from Italy.

The guide license gives the right to extraordinary visits to most attractions - we will be happy to save you from unnecessary hassle and time wasted. Tourists are provided with individual radio systems with headphones.
