World famous sculpture park "PepsiCo"
Description:
One of the best sculptural parks in the vicinity of New York is undoubtedly the famous gardens of PepsiCo. On an area of about 68 hectares there are more than forty-five works by leading sculptors of the XX century: Alexander Calder, Henry Moor, Alberto Giacometti, Auguste Rodin, Arnaldo Pomodoro, Henri Laurent, Jean Dubuffe, Isamu Noguchi, David Smith, Aristide Mayol, Joan Miro, Max Ernst and others.
The core of the collection is a private meeting of the company’s former chairman and chief executive officer, Donald M. Kendell, which he began collecting in 1965.
In its current form, the park has existed since 1980; its design was carried out by leading landscape designers Russell Page and Francois Goffinet. After a five-year renovation, the gardens were reopened to the public in May 2017. The sculptures are located at the headquarters of the soda manufacturer, access is limited to six hours (10:00 – 16:00) on Saturday and Sunday. The park is about an hour from Manhattan. The duration of the trip is usually 5-7 hours.
