Riverside Church

New York City, 490 Riverside Drive

Description:

Riverside Church is located on 122nd Street in New York City. This is a truly huge building, not just a church, but a whole temple-city in which there is a sports hall, a cafe, a school, a kindergarten, a playground and many other premises that are difficult to associate with religion. A significant role in the construction of the church belongs to Rockefeller, who sponsored the construction.

The twenty-storey building of Revereside Church was built in the middle of the XX century. There are elements of architecture borrowed from the Spanish and French Gothic of the XIII century.

At a height of 120 meters, the largest tuned bell in the world weighing about twenty tons is installed. Its chime with 74 other bells evokes a sigh of admiration. Another musical instrument that makes beautiful sounds that can carry thoughts high is a huge organ that is also considered one of the largest in the world.

As in any other church there is a large church hall, services are held here, prayer services are performed.
