Throgs Neck Bridge

Throgs Neck Bridge, Queens, NY, USA

Description:

The Throgs Neck suspension bridge was opened in 1961. It crosses the East River and connects two New York boroughs - Queens and the Bronx.

The bridge is a giant steel structure consisting of six car lanes, two pedestrian sidewalks and bicycle paths. The total length of the bridge is 905 meters, the width is 42 meters. The height of the span is 43 meters, which ensures free passage of ships under it. The daily traffic of the bridge is 110,000 cars.

The design of the bridge consists of several curves, due to which the length of the path increases. The staircases at the ends of the bridge have stingrays, making it easier for people with disabilities to move around. On air platforms there are alarms indicating which lanes are currently not working. At night, traffic is limited and only two lanes function.

From the bridge, a picturesque panorama opens, striking with its beauty passengers and pedestrians.
