North Broser Island
Description:
North Brother Island is located right next to Morris Port in New York City, but is currently in an abandoned state. In this form he has been for about fifty years, but was not always like this.
North Broser Island was once used as a quarantine zone, or quarantine hospital, to isolate people suffering from infectious diseases.
Thus, an infectious disease hospital from Riverside moved to the island in 1885.
“Typhoid Maria” was the name of the girl who was a carrier of typhoid fever, she was accused of infecting more than 50 people. In 1915, Maria was sent to North Brother Island, where she spent the rest of her life, where she died of pneumonia in 1938.
After World War II, there was a shortage of housing, and the island was given to war veterans as a temporary residence. After this problem was eliminated, the island was turned into a rehabilitation center, people who visited the island said that drug abuse patients were brought there.
By the 1960s, due to the inefficiency of the center, it was closed. And now, since 1963, the government doesn't know how to use the island. Many development programmes have been put forward, but none have come to fruition.
