The tailor's monument
Description:
On Seventh Avenue in New York City, nicknamed “fashion street” (there are many clothing stores), there is a monument to a Jewish tailor, immortalizing one of those who created the wealth of the city with his work. An elderly, feeble man in a kippah bent over a sewing machine...
The author of this monument is the sculptor Judith Weller. And she was modeled by her own father, a tailor. The monument is dedicated to A. Singer and his sewing machine.
